Mining3 appoints Jenni Sweet as Technical Director

July 2, 2024 – Brisbane, Australia – Mining3 is pleased to announce the appointment of Jenni Sweet as its new Technical Director.

With an impressive career spanning over 25 years, Jenni brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of bridging fundamental science with practical applications to drive innovation in the global processing industry, instilling confidence in her ability to lead.

Jenni completed postgraduate studies as part of the Amira P9 project while based at Impala Platinum in Rustenburg, South Africa, where she also spent her first few years as a metallurgical engineer. An opportunity to develop a graduate training programme for Anglo Platinum saw Jenni and her husband Craig relocating to Cape Town in 2003 to join the Centre for Minerals Research at the University of Cape Town. In addition to training graduates and professionals in processing theory, Jenni was involved in all manner of site-based applied research projects, including the Amira P9 series of projects, and consulted widely on comminution and flotation circuit challenges in PGM, copper, nickel, gold, phosphate, iron ore and coal.

In 2016, Jenni left UCT to take on the role of global Flotation Lead at Anglo American. She aimed to define and promote best practices, explore and adopt appropriate new technologies, and ensure that the next generation of Process Engineers has the knowledge and skills to reimagine mining to improve people’s lives.

“Throughout my 25-year career, I’ve been driven by a deep passion for bridging the gap between fundamental science and practical application, translating research outputs into innovative solutions for the global Processing industry,” shared Jenni Sweet. “I’ve fostered strong relationships with researchers and global Processing experts, many of whom I’m fortunate to call friends. My mission is to embed safe and sustainable leading Processing strategies, diagnostics, standards, technologies, and designs to maximise separation efficiency and add value across the mining value chain. I’m very excited to work with Neville and his team to provide innovative, real-world solutions to Mining3 members and to transform how the industry adopts technology.”

Neville Plint, CEO of Mining3, warmly welcomed Jenni to the team “Jenni’s extensive experience and her passion for integrating scientific research with practical applications make her an invaluable addition to our team. We are thrilled to have her on board and anticipate the transformative solutions she will bring to our members, paving the way for a brighter future in the mining industry.”

In her new role, Jenni Sweet will oversee Mining3’s technical strategy and lead initiatives to enhance the adoption of cutting-edge technologies in the mining sector. Her appointment underscores Mining3’s unwavering commitment to advancing the industry through strong collaboration, innovation, and the development of sustainable practices.
