Dr Alan Tordoir Joins Mining3 as Director New Mining Technology and Portfolio Integration

Mining3 is pleased to announce that Dr Alan Tordoir, a world-renowned expert in drill and blast practices and technology transfer, is joining our team! Based in Switzerland, Alan’s addition will expand our global footprint and enhance our capabilities in this critical area of mining.
Alan joins Mining3 after eight years as the Group Lead Drill & Blast at Anglo American, where he oversaw the development and adoption of the Group’s D&B strategy, delivering operational excellence, explosive risk management, and supporting the business to achieve its strategic objectives. He has a demonstrated ability to work within an ecosystem of partners and academic groups to translate R&D initiatives into operational value and competitive advantage.
An enthusiastic and energetic mining engineer, Alan brings extensive operational, research, and leadership experience across various commodities in both underground and surface mining operations. Safety and risk management are core values that drive his approach to work management and problem-solving, and as a systems thinker, he strongly believes in interdisciplinary collaboration to deliver value.
Alan holds a PhD in Mining Engineering from the University of Queensland, where he also served as a Research Fellow at the WH Bryan Mining and Geology Research Centre. His academic and R&D background complements his practical experience, making him a valuable asset to Mining3 and its members.
