Dr Adrian Seyfaee Joins Mining3 as Program Director – Scale Up & Commercialisation
Mining3 is proud to announce the appointment of Dr Adrian Seyfaee as Program Director – Scale Up & Commercialisation.
Dr Seyfaee, a Chemical Engineering PhD with extensive experience in innovative projects across the environment, energy, and mining sectors, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team.
Adrian’s notable career has focused on decarbonising heavy industries, including processes involved in mining and refining base metals, coal, and alumina. He has been instrumental in advancing projects involving CO2 storage and utilisation, thermochemical energy storage, seasonal hydrogen storage, liquid catalyst pyrolysis and abatement of fugitive methane.
Over the past year, Adrian has been dedicated to developing safe, innovative, and commercial solutions to abate fugitive methane, a byproduct of industrial activities and a recognised industry-wide challenge. His work on fugitive methane catalytic abatement is a testament to his commitment to reducing the environmental impact of mining activities.
Adrian’s operational knowledge is a critical asset that provides a practical foundation for bridging research and industry applications.
As Scale-up and Commercialisation Program Director at Mining3, he is committed to driving sustainable innovation in the mining sector, leveraging his diverse experience to address critical challenges while focusing on scaling up and commercialising promising technologies.

What do you like to do outside of the office?
” I enjoy spending quality time with my kids, as my top priority. Additionally, I have a passion for reading about science and working on small projects with young engineers. Supervising my students is also a rewarding part of my professional life that extends beyond regular office hours. ”
What excites you the most about your new role at Mining3?
” Beyond the privilege of working with Mining3’s exceptional team, I am thrilled by the projects multifaceted nature. It presents a unique journey from small scale to full-scale demonstration, offering a rich tapestry of opportunities and challenges. This progression allows us to solve real problems as we scale up our ideas. I am really motivated by developing innovative solutions and tackling real-world obstacles at each stage. The prospect of steering a project focused on scaling up proven fundamental science into practical, industry-changing applications is incredibly exciting. It’s a chance to make a tangible impact on heavy industry decarbonisation and sustainability.”
How do you see technology transforming the mining industry in the coming years?
” Although it is difficult to strictly categorize these advancements as they often overlap, I believe the mining industry is poised for significant technological transformation, driven by two main forces: sustainability and operational efficiency. These advancements will reshape mining operations in several keyways.
