Mining3 Welcome Dr Nima Sedaghatizadeh as Senior Mechanical Engineer for the CATCH4 Project

13/03/2025 – Mining3 is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Nima Sedaghatizadeh as the Senior Mechanical Engineer for the CATCH4 project. This innovative initiative, conducted in partnership with Low Emission Technology Australia (LETA), will explore the potential of emerging technology to reduce methane emissions from Australian mine sites.

Dr. Sedaghatizadeh holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and possesses extensive expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), numerical modelling, and mechanical system design. His unique skill set will be instrumental in driving innovation within this project. The CATCH4 project, in collaboration with LETA, is dedicated to evaluating the suitability of catalytic oxidation technology for safe deployment at scale in Australia with the aim of reducing emissions and enhancing sustainability in heavy industry. As the mining sector accelerates its transition toward net-zero emissions, Dr. Sedaghatizadeh’s knowledge in computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and safety-driven design will be crucial to the project’s success.

“Nima is an exceptional designer and modeller, truly the best I have encountered,” said Dr. Adrian Seyfaee, Program Leader at Mining3. “His technical background and problem-solving mindset align perfectly with the ambitious goals of the CATCH4 project. His modelling and design expertise will help us push the boundaries of what’s possible in sustainable innovation.”

But who is Nima beyond the equations and engineering simulations?

Outside work, he is an adventurer at heart—whether camping outdoors, tackling off-road trails, or experimenting with 3D printing, metalwork, and woodworking in his workshop. A fitness enthusiast and a keen photographer, he thrives on creativity and hands-on problem-solving, qualities that will undoubtedly bring a fresh perspective to the Mining3 team.

“I’m excited to be part of Mining3 and contribute to the CATCH4 project,” said Dr. Nima. “Innovation occurs at the intersection of technology and teamwork, and I look forward to collaborating on solutions that will help reshape mining for a more sustainable future. I believe that together we can push the boundaries of operational efficiency and safety to drive meaningful, lasting change in the industry.”

With Nima on board, the CATCH4 project is set to gain even more momentum as LETA and Mining3 continue their commitment to delivering practical, high-impact solutions for the mining industry’s energy transition.
